EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Brad North (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) of men's soccer and junior Courtnie Paulus (Belgium, Wis./Ozaukee) of volleyball have been named this week's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

North tallied two goals in Northwestern's 3-1 win over Ohio State on Sunday, helping the Wildcats defeat the Buckeyes for the first time in 13 years. Down 1-0 at halftime, North tied the game up six minutes into the second half with his second goal of the season.

He then added an insurance goal, his third of the year, later in the half to give Ohio State the 3-1 win to help Northwestern win its conference opener for the first time in the coach Lenahan era.

Paulus was named MVP of the Wildcat Classic after helping Northwestern to a 3-0 record in its home event, including a five-game win over No. 24 Arizona. Paulus matched her career high with seven blocks in the first match of the Classic against Eastern Illinois before killing a season-high 17 balls with 11 digs for a double-double in a four-game win over Pittsburgh.

Paulus then recorded her second double-double of the tournament with a team-high 15 kills and 16 digs against Arizona.
