EVANSTON, Ill. - Junior left-hander Dan Brauer (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) was named one of three Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week today. It is his first distinction by Collegiate Baseball.

Brauer followed up his Big Ten Pitcher of the Week performance against Minnesota last week with Northwestern's first no-hitter since 1999 and 13th in school history. He allowed only two runners to reach base, one of which struck out but made it safely to first on a pass ball. He struck out eight and walked one to extend his scoreless inning streak to 14 innings (two complete game shutouts). He threw 99 pitches (69 strikes) in his sixth complete game of the season and lowered his conference ERA to 2.17. He also leads the Big Ten (all games) with 85 strikeouts in 77.2 innings pitched. All six of his complete games have taken place in league contests and he is a perfect 6-0 (6-1 in 13 overall starts).

The Wildcats are a half-game back of Michigan in the Big Ten standings with a game against Michigan State today at 3 p.m. If NU wins, they will be in a first-place tie with the Wolverines. The Wildcats hold the tiebreaker, winning three-of-four at Michigan to start the Big Ten season.

Brauer shares the honor with....

1B Andy D'Alessio, Clemson: D'Alessio belted five home runs and knocked in nine runs in six games last week for the Tigers as he led Clemson to a 6-0 record. In three games against Duke, he was 5-for-10 with 4 home runs, including two 2-homer games. On the season, he has hit 18 homers in 52 games.

1B/DH/P Josh Dew, Troy: Dew had a monster week at Arkansas-Little Rock as he belted four home runs, including three in one game and drove in 11 runs. In a 17-7 win, he hit a solo homer, 2-run homer and grand slam. He barely missed hitting two more homers in the game as he doubled off the top of the well in center and launched another out of the park that was ruled foul. If that wasn't enough, he was the winning pitcher during the final game against Arkansas-Little Rock as he worked five innings with five strikeouts.
