Postmatch Quotes No. 17 Harvard vs. No. 43 Purdue
Harvard Head Coach Gordon Graham
On the match... "First of all, I thought Purdue played awfully tough. You've got to give them a lot of credit. They didn't make any mistakes, they played solid, solid ball. They played good -doubles - beating our No. 1 doubles team, which is ranked No. 3 in the country, that was huge. We had the match on our racquet, we hit a good volley to, what I thought, was to win the match and get the doubles point, but they came up with a big shot and get back into the fold, and then they beat us. That was a big match right there."
"I thought our kids played tough, played hard, but Purdue just played better. They're just a solid, solid team. Today they played well in the right position -- we won a couple of easy ones - but they were good everywhere else."
Purdue Head Coach Mat Iandolo
On the match... "The biggest surprise to me was No. 3 doubles. We haven't done that well in the last month at No. 3 doubles, but they came out and played like I've never seen them play before--the energy--they were all over the place."
"I can't say enough about Brit Minna stepping up and transferring the energy to Anna there. And then you have to look at Valerie Voelker and our unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection Randi Schuler. For two freshmen to out there--they pulled us thought the Indiana match at the Big Ten Championship and did a great job here, you feel great about this win. It sets us up to play Northwestern tomorrow, which is going to be a tough task, but we advanced and we'll be ready to play them."
