EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sophomore men's golfer Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) and senior lacrosse player Lindsey Munday (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) have been named Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week, Northwestern announced Monday.
Moore receives the laurel after he won the Kepler Intercollegiate individual title by outdueling Indiana's Seth Brandon in a playoff. Moore carded a par on the second playoff hole to win his first college tournament. He shot a 1-under 215 for the three rounds, which included a 4-under 68 in Saturday's first round. Moore, who won the 49th Eastern Amateur title last summer, led the Wildcats to the team title, their second tourney crown of the year. Making the title a little more special was the fact that he won the event in his hometown on the famed Muirfield Village Golf Club course, site of the PGA's Memorial Tournament. This is the third Athlete of the Week honor of his career.
Munday earns the honor as she enjoyed one of the best games of her career on Sunday, scoring five goals to go along with two assists as the second-ranked Wildcats dominated No. 18 Penn State in State College to improve their record to 2-0 in the ALC. The senior scored two-straight goals in the first half to give NU a 7-1 cushion. After Penn State pulled within four in the second half, Munday helped key a 6-0 Wildcat run with two more goals and an assist in the final 10 minutes to close out the game. This is the fourth Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor of Munday's career.
