EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named men's diver Mike Oxman (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and women's lacrosse's Kristen Kjellman (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Oxman, a senior, closed out his career with a third-place finish in the platform event at the NCAA Zone C diving competition in Columbus, Ohio. Oxman qualified for the finals of the event in first place with a score of 365.05.
He then led going into the last round of the finals after nailing a back 3.5 somersault tuck for a 72.60 with his fifth dive before a pair of divers snuck ahead with strong performances in their last attempts. Because of the formula used to determine the five divers who advance from the Zone to the NCAA Championships, Oxman did not advance.
Kjellman, a junior, led the top-ranked Wildcats with six goals and one assist in a 17-8 win at No. 18 Penn last Tuesday. Kjellman is second in the American Lacrosse League in scoring (6.2), goals per game (4.2) and assists (2.0).
Kjellman scored three goals in each half of play as the Wildcats extended their winning streak to 26 games--dating back to the start of the 2005 season.
