Northwestern Names Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University has announced baseball's Aaron Newman (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and women's swimming and diving's Chelsea Davis (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) have earned Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honors.
Newman, a sophomore center fielder, hit .400 in Northwestern's two-game split at Virginia Commonwealth over the weekend. The sophomore started both games and was 4-for-10 with three RBI. He hit his first triple of the season and scored two runs. He recorded five put outs from his outfield position and stole his first two bases of the year. Newman is hitting .333 in five games this year. This is the first Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week accolade of Newman's career.
Davis earns the honor after she captured the first Big Ten diving championship in program history when she won the 3-meter competition with a score of 388.10. The freshman earned first-team All-Big Ten honors for the year, also a Northwestern diving first. This is her second-career selection as Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week.
