EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named sophomore Tyrell Sutton (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) of football and freshman Kassia Shishkoff (Raleigh, N.C./St. David's School) of women's swimming as its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Sutton had a season-high 203 all-purpose yards and ran for 168, including 137 in the second half, of Northwestern's 21-7 win at Iowa on Saturday. Sutton scored the game's first touchdown on a 5-yard scamper on the Wildcats' opening drive.
Sutton then carried the ball on five-consecutive plays for 35 yards and caught an 11-yard pass on NU's final scoring drive of the game in the fourth quarter. Sutton's 168 yards rushing were the most given up by Iowa this season. This is Sutton's third Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor, and his second this season.
Shishkoff highlighted a spirited Northwestern performance against Purdue on Saturday with a pair of impressive event wins. First, she swam a 9:54.08 to win the 1,000 free by more than 18 seconds and move into fourth on NU's all-time top-10 list in the event.
She won the 400 IM with an NCAA `B' cut time of 4:22.56, good enough for ninth in the Wildcats' all-time top-10 in that event. Shishkoff also swam a leg on Northwestern's winning 400 free relay. This is Shishkoff's first Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week honor.
