Pollard Inks One to National Letter of Intent

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Claire Pollard today announced the singing of Maria Mosolova (Moscow, Russia) to a National Letter of Intent. Mosolova will play for the 'Cats in 2007-08.

Mosolova played for Russia's under-18 national team and participated in the Junior Australian Open and Wimbledon tournaments. The International Tennis Federation had ranked her as high at 41st among juniors.

"We're delighted to have Maria join the program," Pollard said. She is going to be a great asset on and off the court. She is an outstanding student and we're looking forward to working with her."

Mosolova chose Northwestern over Washington University (St. Louis), Duke and Yale.

Northwestern ended its fall season and returns to action Jan. 19 at the Seminole Invite hosted by Florida State University. The dual season begins Jan. 24 against DePaul.
