EVANSTON, Ill.--The 4th Annual Wildcat Field Trip Day takes place on Monday, December 18 when the Wildcats take on Georgia Tech at noon! All Chicagoland area schools are invited to attend the game and experience the excitement of Wildcat basketball! In 2004, over 3,000 Chicagoland students attended Field Trip Day. There is FREE admission to the game!
The Wildcats encourage learning both in and out of the classroom. The Wildcat staff has put together a list of lesson plans that teachers can incorporate in their classroom (please see PDF above). With these lesson ideas, teachers can teach their students about not only Northwestern and basketball, but about important life skills and healthy living. The ideas include lessons in Math, Geography, History, Language Arts, Art and Science.
Along with the lesson ideas, the Wildcats are coordinating a poster and essay contest for students in grades K-8. K-3 students are encouraged to enter a poster contest. The poster will involve a picture that includes Northwestern, basketball and sportsmanship. The essay contest is for students in grades 4-8. The students must describe what good sportsmanship involves and give an example of when they showed good sportsmanship. One winner in grades K-8 will be recognized at halftime of the basketball game.
More information about the game includes:
* All students who attend the game will receive a free ticket coupon to the Wildcats' game vs. Minnesota on January 11, 2007.
* Halftime entertainment by the Kaotic Drum Line
* $5 lunch specials that include a pizza and drink or a hot dog, chips and drink. Please note that students may bring their own sack lunch to the game. Regular concessions will also be available.
* Mascot appearances by Willie the Wildcat and Chicago Sky's "Sky Guy."
* Recognition of the winners in K-8 for the poster and essay contests at halftime.
* FREE admission for all fans to the game.
