EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern wrapped up the third and final day of the Wildcat Invitational Sunday. The Wildcats won two of four singles flights and both doubles flights. Northwestern newcomers, freshman Samantha Murray (Altrhincham, England/Altrincham Grammar) and sophomore Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Florida) claimed singles victories.
Robison defeated Jennifer Migan of Indiana State, 7-6, 6-4 in the final and Murray topped fellow Wildcat freshman Suzanne Matzenauer (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine) in their final, 6-2, 6-2.
In the two-flight doubles draw, three of four possible spots in finals matches were occupied by Wildcats. In the intra-team final, junior Alexis Conill (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) and Matzenauer defeated freshman Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) and Robison, 8-6. In the other draw, the team of Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) and Murray bested a pair from Wisconsin, 8-3.
Next the fall schedule the Wildcats travel to East Lansing for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships beginning Oct. 19.
