EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's women's golf team, currently ranked 17th in the Golfweek/Sagarin ranking, seeks to extend its successful fall campaign this weekend, Oct. 6-8, at the 36th Annual Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
The Wildcats have participated in two events so far this fall, and have recorded a top-three finish in both. The 'Cats have had a pair of close calls, finishing second in the Lady Northern to Michigan State and third in the Wolverine Invitational behind Michigan and Ohio State.
Balanced scoring has been the hallmark of the 'Cats' season thus far. All six Wildcats finished in the top 20 at the Lady Northern, and three different Wildcats posted top-10 finishes at the Wolverine Invitational.
Reigning Big Ten individual champion Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) led the 'Cats at the Wolverine Invitational with a fourth-place finish. Right on Kim's heels in a tie for seventh were Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit), who posted her second straight top-10 finish, and Liliana Alvarez (Durango, Mexico/American School of Durango), a senior transfer from Tulane.
Teams competing in this year's Lady Paladin include: Augusta State, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Florida International, Furman, Kennesaw State, Memphis, Minnesota, Mississippi, Mississippi State, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, South Florida, Texas Christian, Winthrop, Wofford and the Wildcats.
The 17-team field will play 18 holes each day (Friday through Sunday) on the Furman University Golf Course, a par-72 layout that measures 6,103 yards.
