Doubles Team Falls in Finals of ITA Midwest Regionals

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Senior Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and sophomore Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) fell in the finals of the ITA Midwest Regional Championship to the pair of Brooke Buck and Kelcy Teftt of Notre Dame, 8-4. Freshman Samantha Murray (Altrincham, England/Altrincham Grammar) advanced to the quarterfinals, but fell 7-6(2), 6-1 to Notre Dame's Cismina Ciobanu.

Five Wildcats advanced to the round of 16 in singles: Rose, Murray, Suzie Matzenauer (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine), Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) and freshman Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid). Two doubles teams advanced to the semifinals. Rose and Prousis defeated Murray and partner Alexis Conill (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons).

Murray started her first season at Northwestern by winning seven-straight matches and all three freshman advanced to the round of 16.

The ITA National Indoor Championships beginning Nov. 2 and Western Michigan's Bronco Invite starting Nov. 3 are the next events on the fall schedule.
