EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Senior Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and sophomore Georgia Rose (Mettawa, Ill./North Shore Country Day) advanced to the finals Sunday of the ITA Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Michigan State University. The duo will face Notre Dame's Buck and Tefft in Monday's final.
Prousis and Rose topped another pair of Fighting Irish in the quarterfinals, defeating Cosmianu/Krisik, 8-2. An all-Wildcat semifinal was set up when the team of freshman Samantha Murray (Altrincham, Eng./Altrincham Grammar) and junior Alexis Conill (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) knocked off Western Michigan's Jeanmarie and Pahl, 8-3. Prousis and Rose won the match against their teammates, 8-5.
In singles, Murray reached the quarterfinals by knocking off a fellow Wildcat, freshman Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid), in the round of 16. Murray took the match 6-3, 6-3. She will face Notre Dame's Cosmina Ciobanu Monday. Vanessa Frankowki of Eastern Michigan defeated Rose 6-3, 6-2 in the third round.
Both freshman Suzie Matzenauer (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine) and sophomore Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) fell in their third round singles matches.
