EVANSTON, Ill. -- After years of planning, fund-raising and construction, Northwestern's new Harold Anderson Hall is just days away from completion.
By the end of May, contractors will have finished all major work on the new $10-million facility, which will house the Ron Burton Academic Advising Center, the Ken Kraft Wrestling Complex as well as offices for a majority of Northwestern's coaches, staff and administrators.
A June move-in date is planned, with the bulk of the move taking place the week of June 20, immediately following Northwestern's annual commencement ceremonies at Ryan Field.
"This is a tremendous facility," says Mark Murphy, Northwestern's Director of Athletics. "Everyone associated with our department, beginning with our student-athletes, is going to benefit from this new building. I'm very pleased with the way the project has progressed."
According to Scott Arey, assistant athletic director for facilities, contractors are completing cabinet and floor work, as well as some electrical work for the fire-alarm system. Arey says once the Evanston fire marshal signs off on the project and the occupancy certificate is received, Northwestern will begin its move into the new Anderson Hall.
