EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern Women's Cross Country Head Coach Amy Tush announced the signing of Carly Brown (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead) to a National Letter of Intent during the late signing period.

Brown will matriculate at Northwestern next year and be eligible to run for the Wildcats in the fall of 2005.

"Carly will add to our depth and bring leadership to our program next year," said Tush. "She will lead the way for the very talented freshman class coming to us in 2005, but her leadership off the course as well as on it is her greatest strength. I look forward to coaching such an inspiring athlete."

Northwestern -- which ran at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2002 -- loses three scorers from this year's championship meets to graduation: Diana Hossfeld (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar), Kyna Forkins (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) and Lesley Meade (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline).
