EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshman Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) and senior Erin Mobley (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) have been named Northwestern's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Playing in just the third event of his collegiate career, Moore finished a personal-best 12th at the high-powered Texas A&M Aggie Invitational this past weekend. Moore completed his 54 holes with a 4-over 220, which included a career-best 3-under 69 in the second round. Moore led the tournament in par-5 scoring (4.50). Ten of the 13 teams competing in the tournament were ranked in the nation's top 50, led by No. 1 Oklahoma State and No. 5 New Mexico.
Mobley had a career weekend, literally. On Friday, Mobley set the school's career total bases record with a second-inning home run against Indiana. She finished that game 2-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Then on Sunday against Purdue, Mobley obliterated the school's career runs scored record. She had seven runs on the weekend, and now has 117 for her career, two more than former record-holder Erin Jancic (1999-2002). The total bases record was also Jancic's. For the week, Mobley batted .538 with a .571 on-base percentage and six RBI.
