Matadors Shut Out Wildcats 16-0 in Game One

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge used a seven-run third inning, propelling them to a 16-0 win over Northwestern in game one of a Saturday doubleheader at Matador Field in Northridge, Calif. CSUN scored in each of the first seven innings, holding the Wildcats to just four hits.
The Matadors batted around the order in the third inning, plating seven runs to take control of the game.
A third-inning double by catcher Pat McMahon (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel) was the only extra base hit for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats used four pitchers in the game, the last being sophomore Bobby Ferla (Waldwick, N.J./St. Joseph Regional). Ferla was the only Wildcat hurler not to give up a run, pitching the eighth inning. He did not allow a base runner and struck out two.
