EVANSTON, Ill. - With a combined 5-0 record last week against California, Michigan and Michigan State, sophomore Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) has earned Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Prousis was one of two Wildcats -- the other being junior Cristelle Grier (Epsom, England/Putney) -- to post a perfect 3-0 singles record and 2-0 doubles mark, helping No. 2 Northwestern improve to 13-2 overall.

All three of Prousis' singles victories came in straight sets, and in her conference matches against Michigan and Michigan State, she dropped only five total games. She defeated Wolverine Kara Delicata, 6-2, 6-1, before taking down Spartan Pascale Schnitzer, 6-2, 6-0. Prousis' singles record now stands at 23-7 overall -- the third-best overall mark on the Wildcats. She is 12-3 in dual competition and 3-0 in the Big Ten.

At doubles, rain washed out the competition in mid-week action at California, but Prousis continued her perfect run through the weekend's competition with a pair of conference wins alongside partner Kristi Roemer (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont). The two wins moved the 29th-ranked duo in the nation to a perfect 3-0 in conference play and 10-3 overall.

Prousis also earned Athlete of the Week honors February 3, 2005.
