EVANSTON, Ill. - Sophomore Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) has earned Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors for her efforts in then-fifth-ranked Northwestern's wins against William & Mary and Wisconsin last weekend.

Prousis -- ranked 49th nationally in singles -- upset 33rd-ranked Megan Moulton-Levy of William & Mary in the Wildcats' 5-2 win over the Tribe last Friday. The Lake Forest, Ill. native clawed back from a 5-0 deficit in the first set to win 7-5. She dropped the second set but went on to seal the upset with a 10-8 win in a third-set tiebreaker.

Prousis also recorded a pair of doubles wins alongside partner Kristi Roemer (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont). Against William & Mary, the tandem upset the nation's 10th-ranked doubles team of Muth and Wei, 8-4. Following an 8-7 (5) win over the Badgers on Sunday, the duo improved their dual record to a team-best 6-1.

Prousis added a straight-set singles win in Northwestern's conference-opening 5-2 win over Wisconsin, improving her dual mark to 6-2.

This is Prousis' first career Big Ten Athlete of the Week selection and the first for Northwestern since April 28, 2004, when junior Cristelle Grier (Epsom, England/Putney) claimed the award.
