EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named volleyball's Lindsay Anderson (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and men's swimming & diving's Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) as Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Anderson earned the honor after she led Northwestern to its first-ever NCAA Tournament win Thursday, recording a double-double with a career-high in blocks against the perennial-power Aggies. Anderson finished with 13 kills, 16 digs and eight blocks in the match. With NU trailing in game four against A&M, Anderson blocked three-consecutive Aggie swings to give the 'Cats the lead and the momentum in the match. She followed that with a match-best 18 kills, missing her second-consecutive NCAA Tournament double-double by just one dig, against the No. 6 seed Notre Dame.
Grevers garnered the accolade by winning both backstroke events against No. 11 Indiana Friday at the Norris Aquatics Center, setting one pool record in the process. Grevers first won the 100 back with an NCAA `B' time of 48.25. He then broke his own pool record with an NCAA `A' standard of 1:43.78 in the 200 back.
