EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Vedran Vukusic (Split, Croatia/Medical) and A.J. Glasauer (Freiburg, Germany/Theodor-Heuss Gymnasium) have been named Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Vukusic got off to a red-hot start at the BCA Invitational in Laramie, Wyo., last week. The senior scored 76 points, an average of 25.3 ppg, in the three BCA Invitational games, earning him all-tournament honors. In the three games, Vukusic was 25-of-45 (.555) from the field, 12-of-22 from three-point range (.545) and 14-of-18 (.777) from the free throw line. Vukusic scored 25 points in the opening win against Lehigh, including the goahead basket with 12.8 seconds left. Against Charlotte, he scored a season-high 28 points and added 23 in the loss to UNC Wilmington Tuesday night.
Glasauer poured in a career- and game-high 26 points in Northwestern's 2005-06 opener against Creighton Saturday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. She was 10-of-16 from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. Glasauer also went 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. The junior was all over the court, dishing out six assists, pulling down four rebounds and recording one takeaway. Her contributions were a large part of the Wildcats' 93 points, the most NU has scored since 1998.
