EVANSTON, Ill. -- Freshman David Roth (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade) has earned a pair of freshman All-America honors for his record-breaking rookie campaign at Northwestern.

Collegesoccernews.com tabbed Roth a second-team freshman All-American while Top Drawer Soccer named him to its honorable mention freshman All-America squad.

Roth -- who was placed on the Big Ten All-Freshman team -- set a Northwestern and conference single-season record with 14 assists. He also scored five goals (including two in the Wildcats' NCAA Tournament second-round game at Creighton) to finish with 24 points, the second-best NU total this season.

Roth's honors mark Northwestern's second-straight year with a freshman All-American. Gerardo Alvarez (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) earned the award last season as NU's leading goal-scorer.
