TUCSON, Ariz. -- No. 23 Northwestern is tied with No. 24 Washington, 74-74, and trails No. 4 Arizona, 111.5-36.5, following the first day of action Friday in a two-day, double-dual meet at the University of Arizona.

Senior Brielle Bovee registered NU's best finish of the day, capturing first place in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:17.01.

Junior Katie Paglini finished second in the 200 Back (2:03.30) while freshman Katie Braun earned a third-place finish in the 100 Fly (56.97), just .18 seconds off the lead.

Freshman Andrea Hupman also recorded a third-place finish for the Wildcats, swimming the 100 Free in 51.87.

The double-dual meet with conclude Saturday with the competition's final events.
