EVANSTON, Ill. - Junior Cristelle Grier (Surrey, England/Putney) -- the No. 1 ranked player in the nation -- and the Northwestern women's tennis team travel to Houston, Texas for the Rice Invitational this weekend, Sept. 24-26, where they will begin their fall season.

Grier highlights a squad that is coming off a sixth-consecutive Big Ten Championship, while Grier herself earned her second-consecutive Big Ten Player of the Year honors.

While Grier has dominated singles play for much of her career, she will also be a force in doubles play alongside sophomore Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill. (Lake Forest). In the preseason doubles rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), Grier and Prousis were ranked No. 9 in the nation.

Another key player for the `Cats will be junior Jamie Peisel (Savannah, Ga./Savannah Country Day), who finished last year with a 26-11 record, including a 20-6 mark in duals and a perfect 11-0 record in the Big Ten.

Alongside Grier, Prousis and Peisel, seniors Kristi Roemer (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) and Andrea Yung (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) will help lead the way for the `Cats this year.
