IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Northwestern women's cross country team ran at Iowa Friday evening, competing in a triangular meet with Iowa and Loyola on the course that will host the Big Ten Championships in late October.
The Wildcats lost to both the Hawkeyes (18-39) and the Ramblers (23-32).
Overall, freshman Marie Grabinski led the way for the Wildcats. In her first collegiate race, Grabinski ran the 4K race in 15:02 to finish seventh overall. She was followed closely by senior Diana Hossfeld (15:04).
NU's other scorers were senior Lesley Meade (10th in 15:16), freshman Alison Coren (14th in 15:38) and senior Kyna Forkins (19th in 15:47).
The individual champion was Iowa's Nikki Chapple, who led a Hawkeye 1-2-3 sweep by clocking 14:09 over the 4K course.
A total of 11 women ran for Northwestern.
