EVANSTON, Ill.--Northwestern has named J.A. Happ (Peru, Ill./St. Bede Academy) and Carri Leto (El Cajon, Calif./Valhalla) its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Happ threw his fourth complete game of the season, defeating Michigan State 3-0 Friday in East Lansing, Mich. The junior struck out 10 Spartans, which gave him 106 Ks for the season, the second highest single-season total in NU history. Happ is just the second Wildcat to strike out over 100 batters in a season.

Happ led the Big Ten in ERA for the second time in his career, beating out Glen Perkins (2.79) from Minnesota by 0.11.

Leto hit a two-out, two-strike, game-tying single in the bottom of the seventh against South Carolina, keeping Northwestern alive in the game and in the NCAA Regional Tournament. The senior concluded her career on a 19-game hitting streak and also hit safely in 28 of NU's final 30 games of the season.

Leto ranks in the top seven all-time in 10 different offensive categories at Northwestern.
