VALPARAISO, Ind. - Winning 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning, Northwestern and Valparaiso's baseball game in Valparaiso, Ind., was called due to inclement weather. With the rain already falling and no end in site, poor footing on the pitching mound and base paths, prompted Wildcat head coach Paul Stevens and Valpo head coach Paul Twenge to call the game. There was one out in the bottom of the third inning when the game ended.

In the game, sophomore Anthony Wycklendt hit a second-inning two-run home run over the left centerfield fence. It was one of only two NU hits in the three Wildcat offensive innings. Senior Josh Lieberman hit a single to center to leadoff the game.

Sophomore Julio Siberio started on the mound for Northwestern, throwing two complete innings. He gave up one run (a solo home run), striking out two. Junior Chris Davidson started the bottom of the third, getting one out before the game was called.

Valpo also had two hits, including a bottom of the second solo home run.

No stats will count toward season totals in this game.

NU is next in action when they host Minnesota at Rocky Miller Park in Evanston for a four-game conference series. Game one is set for 3 p.m. (CDT) Friday afternoon.
