EVANSTON, Ill.--Home is where the heart is. And for Northwestern's 11th-ranked women's tennis team, home also is where the wins are.

In their final regular-season home match, the Wildcats defeated 63rd-ranked Ohio State 6-1 at Vandy Christie Tennis Center for a perfect 12-0 record in Evanston.

"It says a lot to be undefeated at home," said head coach Claire Pollard. "I give credit to the team for its steady play and the crowds for their support."

The victory kept NU (18-4, 7-1 Big Ten) tied with Indiana for second place behind Illinois (17-3, 8-1). The Buckeyes, meanwhile, dropped to 8-12 overall, including 3-5 in conference play.

The 'Cats began the fast-paced contest with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles for the point. At the one spot, Jessica Rush (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) and Cristelle Grier (Surrey, England/Epsom) had little difficulty in their 8-1 triumph over Meaghan Colville and Lindsay Williams.

After an OSU win at No. 3, Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and Jamie Peisel (Savannah, Ga./Savannah Country Day) clinched by edging Lindsey Adams and Emily DeCamilla 8-5.

Prousis then went on to finish first in singles, disposing of DeCamilla again, this time 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3. One court over, No. 55 Rush followed with her own 6-1, 6-3 victory, beating Jackie Leskovar at No. 2.

The clinching match point was earned by Andrea Yung (San Marino, Calif./San Marino), who knocked out Meredith Vincent 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4. The junior improved to .500 (14-14) with the win.

For the fifth point, Peisel churned out a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Adams at No. 4. Third-ranked Grier closed out the contest with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Williams at No. 1.

"I think the team is really enjoying themselves out there," said Pollard. "We never take any of our wins for granted."

The Wildcats will face Michigan and Michigan State on the road this weekend for their final two matches before postseason competition begins.
