EVANSTON, Ill. - A pair of Northwestern women's lacrosse players were honored with National Player of the Week recognition, on the heels of the Wildcats' stunning ALC victory against defending conference champion Ohio State Sunday.

Sarah Albrecht, who led the 'Cats with three goals and an assist, was honored by insidelacrosse.com. Junior goalkeeper Ashley Gersuk was just as tremendous at the other end of the field, coming up with 12 saves, and she was recognized by womenslacrosse.com.

The awards mark the first time a Northwestern player has received such recognition since the program was brought back as a varsity in 2002, and they seemed appropriate following arguably the biggest win in the program's modern history. The Wildcats (3-1, 2-0 ALC) were No. 20 in last week's IWLCA coaches poll, but figure to move up when the new rankings are released Monday night.
