CYPRESS, Texas -- For the second straight tournament, freshman Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) flirted with medalist honors, but like a week ago, she ended up placing fourth among a field of 88 golfers at the 11th Annual Texas A&M "Mo"morial Invitational.

As a team, the 38th-ranked Wildcats placed seventh among the 15 four-year institutions in the field. Kansas State and Missouri, both from the Big 12 Conference, tied for first place at 45-over. Northwestern was seven strokes back at 52-over (303-304-309=916), and one stroke behind sixth-place Indiana. Wisconsin, the other Big Ten school in the tournament, placed 13th at 76-over.

Kim finished with rounds of 76, 72 and 74 for a 6-over 222. She shared fourth place with Wisconsin's Malinda Johnson, who was one of three players who finished first at the Central District Classic last week. Kansas State's Christine Boucher won the event with a 3-over 219.

Fellow classmate Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School) tied for 22nd place with a 14-over 230 (73-79-78). Juniors Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) and Mary Ellen Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) both shot an 18-over 234 and tied for 38th place. Ina Kim had rounds of 77, 79 and 78, while Grzebien carded scores of 80, 75 and 79.

Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian), the third freshman in NU's lineup, placed 50th with a 20-over 236 (77-78-81).

Complete team and individual standings can be found at Texas A&M "Mo"Morial.

The Wildcats return to action March 21, participating in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas.
