EVANSTON, Ill.--Northwestern has named Jitim Young (Chicago, Ill./Gordon Tech) and Jessica Florendo (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Dwight School) its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Young, a senior guard, ended his NU career in style, tying a Big Ten Tournament record with 11 steals in two games. He had eight of those steals in NU's first-round victory against Penn State, one shy of a school record.

The following day, against Michigan State, Young led all scorers with 24 points, snared four boards and collected three more steals. For his efforts, Young was the only player named to the five-member All-Big Ten Tournament Team who did not play in Sunday's final.

Florendo, a freshman, took second place in foil to lead Northwestern's sixth-ranked women's fencing team at the Midwest Regional Championships Sunday at SPAC. Florendo, seeded sixth, took down two-time defending NCAA champion and No. 2 seed Alicja Kryczalo of Notre Dame 5-1 before falling to her 5-3 in the first-place match.

Florendo finished the day with a 13-2 record and clinched a berth to next week's NCAA Championships.
