Box Score

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Lindsay Bowen scored 14 points and No. 20 Michigan State beat Northwestern 70-46 on Sunday.

It was the eighth win in the last nine games for the Spartans (18-4, 8-3 Big Ten), who are in third place in the conference with five games left in the regular season.

Victoria Lucas-Perry added 12 points off the bench and Kristin Haynie had 10 for Michigan State, which overcame a slow start to go up by as many as 33 points.

Michelle Zylstra set a new career record by scoring a game-high 18 points for the Wildcats (7-15, 0-11). The senior also tied a career mark with her four threes, three of which were in the second half. Sarah Kwasinski added 17 points, including eight in the opening minutes when Northwestern led 17-11.

The Spartans then took control and more than doubled Northwestern's score with a 54-15 run.

"We walked a lot," said head coach June Olkowski. "We gave them six or seven more possessions and opportunities than we had. For a team like MSU that can hit a three, that can penetrate, that is tough and aggressive, those extra possessions win the game."

The overall dominance helped the Spartans allow less than 50 points for the 11th time this season, against a team they beat in overtime Jan. 22.
