EVANSTON, Ill. - On the road again. The 'Cats visit Minnesota on Sunday, the second of three road games that close out the Big Ten regular season. Coming off a hard-fought 57-46 loss at Ohio State on Thursday, Northwestern is playing well and hoping to take advantage of an injured Minnesota squad.

All-America candidate Lindsey Whalen has not played since February 12 due to a hand injury, and the Golden Gophers are 2-1 since she went down. They lost Thursday's game on the road at Iowa by the score of 81-61. Whalen scored a game-high 21 vs. the Wildcats earlier this season.

After remaining unbeaten in the nonconference portion of the 2003-04 schedule, Minnesota has dropped five league games since Jan. 18, falling to Purdue, Penn State, Michigan State, Ohio State and Iowa.

Northwestern is led by Samantha McComb who is averaging 10.5 points per game. Sophomore Ifeoma Okonkwo is second in scoring with 9.2 ppg and first in rebounding with 5.9 per game.

Senior Michelle Zylstra led the 'Cats in scoring vs. Ohio State, accounting for a career- and game-high 19. She also grabbed a team-high four boards.

Northwestern leads the all-time series with Minnesota 29-15. The U of M took the first game of 2004 on Jan. 8 by the score of 72-40 at Welsh-Ryan.

The Wildcats close out the regular season next Thursday at Michigan.
