Northwestern Names Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill.--Northwestern has named Jitim Young (Chicago, Ill./Gordon Tech) and Samantha McComb (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Young, a senior, played an integral role in Northwestern moving above .500 in the Big Ten last week. In Wednesday's 40-39 win at Purdue, he had a game-high nine rebounds and sealed the Wildcats' bizarre win with two steals in the final seven seconds.
Saturday against Penn State, Young scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the second half and came up with three of his four steals as the Wildcats used a 30-2 run to start the second half and cruised to the 65-52 win.
McComb scored nine and added a season-high seven boards in Northwestern's 48-36 win over Indiana on Thursday. The junior co-captain also scored 16 vs. No. 5 Purdue on Sunday, putting up her best scoring total since tallying 22 points on Dec. 18 against Illinois-Chicago.
In the final home game of the season, McComb was 5-of-7 overall and hit all three 3-point attempts. She leads NU in scoring (10.9 ppg).
