EVANSTON, Ill. - Redshirt junior Vedran Vukusic (Split, Croatia/Medical) and senior Sarah Kwasinski (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) have been named Northwestern's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Vukusic scored 14 points on his 22nd birthday as Northwestern defeated Seton Hall 53-44 at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Vukusic scored seven points in a decisive 8-0 Northwestern run in the second half, erasing a short-lived Pirates lead and securing the Wildcats' third straight win. Vukusic played all 40 minutes for the second straight game and the third time in four contests; he also had seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks. Earlier in the week, in a 56-52 win over DePaul, Vukusic led NU with 17 points and four assists.
Kwasinki scored a career-high 28 points in the Wildcats' 68-55 loss to Florida International. She also was a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line and snagged three rebounds. Against Illinois-Chicago on Tuesday, Kwasinski scored 11 points, pulled down seven rebounds and was 5-of-6 from the foul line.
