EVANSTON, Ill. -- Freshman Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood) of women's swimming and diving and Noah Herron (Mattawan, Mich./Mattawan) of football have been named this week's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
The honor is the first for Hupman and Herron's second nod of the season.
Hupman swam a pair of NCAA `B' standard and career-best times Friday in the Wildcats' 159-141 upset of No. 21 Indiana. She earned victories in the 100 free with a time of 51:04 and the 200 free with a time of 1:50.50.
Hupman narrowly missed her third win of the day in the 50 freestyle, finishing second by just one one-hundreth of a second.
Running against another nationally touted defense, Herron rushed for 175 yards on 30 carries at Penn State. His performance helped Northwestern notch its first win in five visits to State College. Herron also scored his 11th rushing TD early in the fourth quarter -- his fourth game-winning TD in four Big Ten victories this season.
With his 175 yards, Herron surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for single-season yardage, giving Northwestern a 1,000-yard rusher for the third straight year. Herron also moved into sixth place on NU's all-time rushing list, passing Mike Adamle.
