EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern competes in its first home dual match of the season at 4 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 3 against No. 23 Northern Illinois University in Patten Gym. NU looks to avenge a 21-12 loss to the Huskies at last year's NIU Duals.

The Wildcats are coming off strong performances at the Michigan State Open, in which freshman Dustin Fox (Galion, Ohio/Galion High School) took second in the heavyweight division in his first collegiate tournament. Fox -- seeded sixth in his weight class -- won his first three matches before falling in the title round to Bill Stouffer of Central Michigan, 4-2.

Sophomore Ryan Lang (Galion, Ohio/Galion High School) and senior Mike Kimberlin (Bradley, Ill./Bishop Martin McNamara) both placed third at 141 and 157-lbs., respectively.

Freshman Mike Tamillow (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) placed fourth in his first collegiate tournament, going 5-2 overall.

Juniors Matt Delguyd (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) and Dan Quintela (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) both posted fifth-place finishes at the open.

NIU comes to Evanston after recently dropping its season-opening home match to No. 13 Wisconsin Sunday afternoon at the NIU Convocation Center.

The Huskies' Johnny Galloway and Andy Hiatt both earned resounding victories, but it was not enough to lift NIU to an upset win over No. 13 Wisconsin

The Badgers claimed a 27-12 win overall in the team standings after sophomore Joe Sapp claimed a forfeit win in the heavyweight division to go with the Hiatt and Galloway triumphs.

Wisconsin dealt the decisive blows at 184 and 197 pounds, where senior George Kirgan was forced to injury default late in the third period and Derek Hunsinger was pinned 2:13 into the first round.

Again, due to the Northwestern women's basketball game at 7 p.m. Friday, the wrestling match will take place in Patten Gym as opposed to the team's normal venue of Welsh-Ryan Arena.
