EVANSTON, Ill. - Sophomore Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and freshman Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood) have been named Northwestern's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Grevers broke eight pool records and was named Co-Swimmer of the Meet during the three-day NU TYR Invitational. On Day One, he swam three events, setting four pool records. His leadoff 100 back in the 400 medley broke his own school record as did the relay itself. He also set the pool record in the 200 IM and 50 free. On Day Two, he broke the 100 back record again during the individual event and was part of the record-setting 200 medley relay squad. On Day Three, his 43.41 leadoff leg in the 400 free relay broke the 100 free pool record as did the entire relay.
Hupman set a pair of pool records over the weekend in the Wildcats' NU TYR Invitational. Her times of 50.12 in the 100 free and 1:49.05 in the 200 free established new marks. The previous 200 free record holder had been Olympian Gabrielle Reese of Stanford. Hupman also won the 50 free event while swimming legs on Northwestern's winning 200, 400 and 800 free relays and the 200 medley relay.
