'Cats Compete in Final Two Tournaments of Fall Season

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern competes in its final two tournaments of the fall season this weekend. Freshman Audra Cohen (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) and junior Cristelle Grier (Epsom, England/Putney) will take part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships Thu.-Sun., Nov. 4-Nov. 7. at the University of Michigan.

Cohen brings a perfect 19-0 record to the championships and will attempt to capture yet another singles title. She has already won the Rice Classic, ITA All-American Championships and the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.

Grier -- the No. 1 player in the country -- brings a strong 12-3 record to the championships.

The remaining Wildcats will end fall competition Wed.-Mon., Nov. 3-8 at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic hosted by Marquette in Milwaukee, Wis. Four `Cats enter that tournament with six or more wins in fall competition. Freshman Alexis Connil (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons), junior Jamie Peisel (Savannah, Ga./Savannah Country Day), sophomore Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and graduate student Valerie Vladea (Tiffin, Iowa/Minnesota) all have seven wins over the course of four fall tournaments.

Senior Kristi Roemer (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) and Andrea Yung (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) both have 6-2 records on the fall. Junior Feriel Esseghir (Sarasota, Fla./UCLA) is 2-2 in limited competition so far this year.
