Wildcats Sign One to Letter of Intent

EVANSTON, Ill. - Head Coach Tim Cysewski announced the signing of Vincent Colletti -- a two-time state champion -- to a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period. Colletti will join the Wildcats next season as a member of the class set to graduate in 2009.

Colletti is a Naperville, Ill. native, who attended Montini Catholic where he has compiled a 112-14 record through three years. He will compete in the 149 or possibly the 157-lb. weight classes for the `Cats.

Serving as team captain his junior year, Colletti became the Illinois Class A State Champion at 140 lbs., while also leading his team to the dual championship. He posted a record of 46-4, and also won the Wisconsin Cheesehead Invitational Champion. He took second place at the Al Dvorak Tournament and was the regional and sectional champion.

His sophomore year, Colletti took third place in state at 135 lbs., while his team again won the dual championship. He was the regional champion and took second at sectionals, finishing with a 35-9 mark. Colletti was named to the AAU All-American Team and his AAU squad won the national championship.

Colletti earned his first state championship during his freshman year at 119 lbs., while compiling a 31-1 record. He was also the regional and sectional champion. He earned his first nod to the AAU All-American Team, also won his first team AAU national championship.

Colletti was also a member of the Montini football team freshman through senior year and has competed on the track team freshman through junior year.

In addition to athletic prowess, Colletti has earned academic distinction as well. He is currently the Wendy's High School Heisman Illinois state representative. The High School Heisman recognizes excellence in academics, athletics and community service and will be awarded at a national level at the end of December. Colletti has also been named Academic All-Conference all three years he has competed in high school.
