EVANSTON, Ill. - After impressive showings at the season-opening United States Fencing Association (USFA) Burton Open two weeks ago, Northwestern continues the fall season by hosting the USFA Remenyik Open this Saturday, Oct. 23 and Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Sports Pavilion and Aquatic Center (SPAC).

The format of the open will be similar to the Burton Open, as anyone can walk into SPAC and enter into the competition. Head Coach Laurie Schiller currently has 250 entries, and expects as many as 350 competitors to display their skills before the weekend is over.

Senior co-captain Julia Foldi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istavan Gimnazium) continues her quest to become NU's first four-time All-American. Foldi got off on the right foot in the Burton Open by placing first in the foil competition.

Sophomore Jessica Florendo (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Dwight School) was right on Foldi's heels, placing second in the foil at the Burton Open. Florendo continues to improve on her freshman campaign that saw her come up one place short of earning All-American status.

NU will host one more tournament next Friday, Oct. 29 before competing in the Junior World Cup in Louisville, Ky. Friday, Nov. 5 through Sunday, Nov. 7.
