Wildcats Travel to Minnesota for Regional Championships

EVANSTON, Ill - Northwestern is set to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships Thursday, Oct. 21 through Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the University of Minnesota. The draw features 14 of the nation's top 120 singles players and nine of the nation's top 60 doubles teams. Players from nearly 30 Division I schools will compete in the tournament.

No. 1 junior Cristelle Grier (Epsom, England/Putney) and ITA All-American Champion Audra Cohen (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) are two of the top players in the championships. In addition to Grier and Cohen, sophomore Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) is ranked 46th and junior Feriel Esseghir (Sarasota, Fla./UCLA) is ranked 122nd in singles competition.

Grier and Prousis are the ninth ranked doubles team, while Cohen and Esseghir are ranked 46th in doubles play.

The finalists and doubles champion from the championships will earn automatic bids in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, Nov. 4-7, at the University of Michigan.

Friday, Oct. 22 - Final round of qualifying singles; 1st & 2nd rounds of doubles

Saturday, Oct. 23 - 1st & 2nd rounds of main draw singles; round of 16 doubles

Sunday, Oct. 24 - Doubles quarterfinals & semifinals; round of 16 singles

Monday, Oct. 25 - Doubles final; singles quarterfinals & semifinals

Tuesday, Oct. 26 - Singles final
