Northwestern Names Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill.--Northwestern has named Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Katie Simmons (Carmel, Ind.) its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Grevers continues to dominate in his first season at Northwestern. In a tri-dual meet against Eastern Michigan and Illinois-Chicago last weekend, he broke the NU pool record in the 200 back, clocking in at 1:46.98, which beat the old record of 1:47.49. He also posted a first-place finish in the 50 free in that meet, finishing in 20.66.
Grevers won the only individual event in which he swam against Michigan State, placing first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 44.40.
Simmons, a senior, compiled first- and second-place finishes to help Northwestern defeat Michigan State 136-105 on Friday. In the 200 freestyle, she earned the win with a time of 1:54.15. Simmons then swam the 100 breast in 1:04.79, good for second place.
As part of NU's 200 medley relay team, Simmons assisted her squad in taking second with a time of 1:47.95.
