EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern announced the reinstatement of freshman women's tennis player Cristelle Grier (Surrey, England/Putney) based on positive decisions handed down today by two NCAA committees. Grier-who was barred, along with English teammate Ruth Barnes (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College), from last weekend's NCAA Regional Championships-is eligible to play in the NCAA Singles and Doubles championships, which commence on May 19.

Grier, ranked ninth in the nation, was selected to participate in the 64-player Singles Championship that begins Monday and runs through May 24. In addition, Grier and doubles teammate Jessica Rush (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School), ranked sixth in the nation, will compete in the NCAA Doubles Championships beginning on Tuesday, May 20. All matches will be played at the Ring Tennis Complex at the University of Florida.

Grier-the Big Ten Player and Freshman of the Year-ended the season with a 25-0 dual-match record and was 23-4 in doubles.
