Wildcats Will Host NCAA Regional

EVANSTON, Ill. - For the third time in as many years, Northwestern's women's tennis team was named one of 16 hosts for a four-team NCAA Championship Regional next weekend.The field for the 64-team NCAA Women's Tennis Championship was announced Wednesday evening.
The Wildcats, who clinched an automatic berth with their Big Ten championship title on Sunday, will host Illinois State, Kansas State and Virginia Commonwealth May 10-11. Matches will be played at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center on Sheridan Road. In the event of inclement weather, matches will be moved to the Combe Tennis Center at 2379 North Campus Drive.
The Wildcats will square off against Kansas State in the first match of the tournament at 10 a.m. Illinois State and VCU will compete in the 2 p.m. match. Winners of the semifinal matches meet in the regional final at noon Sunday. The regional champion will move on to the Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla., where the team and individual national championships will be held from May 15-24.
