EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's longstanding goal of maximizing its athletic facilities is another step closer, as the extension to Trienens Hall is now complete. With $1.1 million of improvement, NU has added an annex that houses another 40 yards of astroturf to complement the original 85-yard surface.
The 14,400 added square feet will significantly improve the atmosphere of Trienens, giving the football team an area for the offensive and defensive lines to practice while the skills positions practice in the original section.
"The Trienens Hall addition demonstrates Northwestern's commitment to providing student-athletes the best athletic facilities possible," said NU head football coach Randy Walker. "The additional space in Trienens Hall will not only provide more room for workouts, the annex will also allow multiple teams to use the facility simultaneously. It's a great addition for the entire athletic department."
Besides the football program, 12 other athletic teams use the facility regularly. With the addition, multiple teams will be able to occupy Trienens simultaneously, reducing the need for early-morning or late-night practice times.
