EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern sophomore center Sarah Kwasinski (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) received All-Big Ten honors for the second consecutive season, conference officials announced today.

Just as in 2001-02, Kwasinski was named honorable mention by both the conference coaches and media members. She led NU during the regular season with 12.2 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.3 steals. On the Big Ten charts, Kwasinski finished the year 20th in scoring, seventh in rebounding and second in blocked shots.

The 6-foot-4 Kwasinski led the 'Cats in scoring 13 times on the season, and turned in the top rebounding performance in 15 of NU's 27 games. She notched four double-double performances, including a 15-point, 15-rebound game against Ohio State on Jan. 19. She earned all-tournament honors at the Rutgers Coca-Cola Classic (Nov. 30-Dec. 1), the Mildred and Roger L. White Invitational (Dec. 6-7) and the Denver Classic (Dec. 20-21).

In just two seasons in Evanston, Kwasinski has 105 blocked shots, which ranks her third on NU's all-time list, and she is just one block behind second-place Christina Braden heading into this weekend's Big Ten Tournament. The 'Cats (8-19, 3-13 Big Ten) are seeded 10th in this year's event, and will take on seventh-seeded Iowa in the first round Thursday, March 6 at 4:30 p.m. CST time. The winner of that game will advance to face second-seeded Minnesota Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m. CST.
