EVANSTON - Welsh-Ryan Arena opened a little early on Senior Day (Feb. 23), as the 'Cats played host to a youth wrestling exhibition. Cary Junior High and Lake Zurich North Junior High brought youthful energy and excitement, along with many of their faithful fans, out for the special event.

The wrestlers provided over an hour of action-packed and entertaining wrestling on the NU Varsity mat before the 'Cats faced off against No. 2 Iowa.

Following the mini-meet, the two junior high teams and their families were the VIP quests of Northwestern wrestling for the NU vs. Iowa meet that day. The young participants enjoyed a pre-meet pep talk with Northwestern head coach Tim Cysewski and each participant took home a souvenir T-shirt.

If your school or team is interested in finding out more information regarding future "mini-meet" participation or Wildcat wrestling camps, please write to: wrestling@northwestern.edu or call 847.491.4799.
