Wildcats Finish Seventh at Midwest Regional

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Northwestern women's cross country team finished seventh out of 24 teams Saturday at the Midwest Regional Championships.

The Wildcats were led by junior Diana Hossfeld, who earned All-District honors for the third time in as many years with a 14th-place finish. Hossfeld clocked 21:48 on the 6-kilometer course to finish 30 seconds behind the winner, Amanda Bales from Missouri.
Nicole Kalogeropoulos was NU's next finisher, scoring 37 points with a time of 22:40; she was followed quickly through the chute by teammates Nora Colligan (40 points in 22:44) and Kalysta Harmon (41 points in 22:45). Emily Blakeslee was the Wildcats' final scorer, clocking 22:57 and scoring 53 points.
Freshmen Mallory O'Niel (100th in 23:44) and Casey Shea (108th in 23:55) were NU's other runners at the meet.
Nebraska won the team title, scoring 60 points to edge out fellow Big 12 foe Missouri by three points. Both the Cornhuskers and the Tigers will represent the region at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 24.
Northwestern's season has come to a close.
