EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University athletic department has come up with the slogan "Paint the Town Purple" for this athletic year. This week -- homecoming week at NU -- the student body is taking the slogan to heart.

Several donwtown Evanston businesses have allowed Northwestern student groups to paint their shop windows in the school colors. The athletic department would like to thank the following companies, whose windows are currently done up in the purple and white of the Wildcats -- Osco Drug, Radio Shack, Lulu's, Nevin's/Nevin's Live, Panera, Unicorn Caf?, and Campus Gear.

Among the student groups that participated in the "Paint the Town Purple" promotion were Special Olympics, Kaibigan, NUSAF, and Dolphin Show.

The effort is being made to start a homecoming tradition, and continue to work with the student body to find ways to truly "Paint the Town Purple."
